100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA
Seavey Vineyard’s tenth estate-produced Merlot, the 2003, was made from 100% Merlot grapes grown at several different elevations of the vineyard. The grapes were harvested during the last two weeks of September at optimal ripeness of sugar and tannins and with concentrated fruit flavors. The 2003 Merlot has an enticing nose of mulberry, coffee and mocha. It exhibits a rich palate of plum, black cherry and cedar with soft tannins. While delicious to drink now, it should age well for many years. Winemaking style followed classic Bordeaux methods. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (40% new oak) for 18 months before bottling in May 2005.
