100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA
"The 1999 Merlot exhibits a full-bodied, chocolate and berry fruit-scented nose, low acidity, and fleshy, succulent flavors, with aromas of dried herbs, roasted espresso, earth, black cherries. This rich, medium-bodied, and moderately tannic wine should be consumed over the next decade." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
The 1999 Merlot exhibits It is 100% Merlot aged in 40-45% new French oak. The 1999 should have an aging curve of 8-10 years.
Seavey Vineyard’s sixth estate-produced Merlot, the 1999, was made from 100% Merlot grapes grown primarily on a gradually sloping east-facing block near the top of the vineyard. The grapes were harvested in early October at optimal ripeness of sugar and tannins and with concentrated fruit flavors.
Winemaking style followed classic Bordeaux methods. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (40% new oak) for 18 months before bottling on May 24, 2001.
The 1999 Merlot had an opaque purple color and an expressive chocolate berry fruit-scented nose. It is full bodied and rich with lush, succulent flavors.
