100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA

"I thought the 1996 Merlot was even more impressive than the 1997. The color is a saturated ruby purple, and the wine smoky, with plenty of thick, juicy black cherries, earth, and chocolate on display in abundant quantities. Full-bodied and rich, with an opulent texture, this immensely attractive Merlot can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15 years." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

Seavey Vineyard’s third estate produced Merlot, the 1996, was made from Merlot grapes grown on a gradually sloping East-facing block near the top of the vineyard.

The grapes were harvested near the end of September at 25 degrees Brix.  Following both primary and malolactic fermentation, the wine was aged for nineteen months in French oak barrels before being bottled on May 11, 1998.

The 1996 Merlot has an opaque ruby-purple color and a rich nose of black-currants and spice.  Medium bodied, ripe and intense, the wines should age well for a decade or more.
