100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA
Seavey Vineyard’s eleventh estate-produced Merlot, the 2004, was made from 75% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petit Verdot grapes grown at several different elevations of the vineyard. The grapes were harvested between September 7 and September 15 at optimal ripeness of sugar and tannins and with concentrated fruit flavors.
The 2004 Merlot has an enticing nose of mulberry, coffee and mocha. It exhibits a rich palate of plum, black cherry and cedar with soft tannins. While delicious to drink now, it should age well for many years. Winemaking style followed classic Bordeaux methods. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (40% new oak) for 18 months before bottling in May 2006.
