100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA
"The 2002 Merlot is a 550-case offering exhibiting aromas of melted fudge, coffee, berries, and dried herbs. Made in a rich, medium to full-bodied style with loads of character and flesh, it will provide immense pleasure over the next decade." - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
"Wonderful structure, with firm, ripe tannins wrapped around a generous, concentrated core of vibrant currant, cola, wild berry and spicy anise notes that are deep and concentrated, with a long, intense, focused finish. Best from 2006 through 2012. Rating 92” – J.L., Wine Spectator
The 2002 Merlot is medium bodied in a full ripe style. Its dense 100% Merlot aromas include cedar, nutmeg, clove, berry fruit, black cherries, chocolate and sweet coffee. Rich and full on the palate, the wine has a long finish with well-integrated tannins.
The grapes are grown at several different elevations of the vineyard. They were harvested September 27th. Hand picking according to ripeness affords us the luxury of optimum perfection from the soil. Following classic old world tradition the Merlot is produced in true Bordeaux style. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 18 months before bottling.
This outstanding 100% estate produced Napa Valley Merlot was awarded a Gold Medal at the 2005 Orange County Fair. The wine is an exceptional example of classic Merlot that will age well for many years.
