Seavey Vineyardˇ¦s eighth estate-produced Merlot, the 2001, was made from 100% Merlot grapes grown at several different elevations of the vineyard.  The grapes were harvested the first three weeks of September at optimal ripeness of sugar (24.5„a Brix) and tannins (0.63 TA) and with concentrated fruit flavors.

The 2001 Merlot offers fresh fruit and floral aromas of cherries, violets, truffles and spice.  Integrated and structured with a ˇ§medium bodyˇ¨, it will continue to age well for years. Winemaking style followed classic Bordeaux methods. Following fermentation, the wine was aged in French oak barrels (45% new oak) for 18 months before bottling on June 2003.
