100% ESTATE GROWN, PRODUCED AND BOTTLED - NAPA VALLEY AVA
“Revealing the vintage's burly, masculine, and muscular side, the 2006 Seavey Cabernet is stacked and packed with fruit, extract, and tannin. Like so many wines from Seavey, I almost feel the style is reminiscent of a great St.-Estephe such as Montrose blended with a Graves such as La Mission Haut-Brion...a powerful wine to be enjoyed over the next three decades through 2043.” Rating 93+ - Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate, December 2008 #180
“The 2006 Seavey has soil-inflected aromas of warm stones, underbrush and dried berries, with a very ripe, almost liqueur-like aspect…then, big, chewy and deep, with a compelling sweetness to its smoke, tobacco and espresso flavors. Just juicy enough to maintain verve…there’s something sexy and exotic about this wine.” - Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, June 2009 #144
Comprised of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petite Verdot, this 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon marks the 12th consecutive Seavey vintage under the guiding hands of world-renowned winemaker, Philippe Melka. The grapes were harvested mid-August to mid-October 2006 with low yields from our South facing hill-side vineyard. The rich fruit benefited from a hot summer and a long growing season. In the winery the grapes were sorted, de-stemmed and gently lifted into small tanks for fermentation; the resulting wine was aged in 50% new French oak before being bottled in May, 2008. Production was limited to under 900 cases of 750 ml bottles.
