The 2008 Seavey Merlot is our fifteenth vintage of this generous and complex varietal. While Merlot is generally considered a lighter-bodied varietal in California, in France it dominates Pomerol and much of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux's Right Bank and is the basis for some of the world's greatest wines.

2010 Merlot 750

The initial entry into your palate reveals blackberry, blueberry, black and red cherry, ripe cranberry and lingering chewy tannins.  Savory notes abound with bitter-sweet cocoa, toasty almond pastry, caraway seed and mocha.  The finish is notably long and should be savored.

2008 Merlot 750

2008 Merlot 750

Described by some of our friends as the best Merlot they have ever tasted, the triumphant 2008 is our fifteenth Merlot vintage. The wine is particularly dark, rich, and complex. The nose is enticed by violets, blackberries, blueberries, bramble, a weightless floral perfume and a touch of French oak. Once in the mouth the palate is presented with tobacco, cocoa covered truffles, pomegranate, boysenberry and ripe chewy tannin which provide a supportive structure for its wide flavor profile. Enjoy 2011 - 2018.

2009 Seavey Merlot 750

2009 Seavey Merlot 750

In 2009, we grew our 16th vintage of Merlot. The growing season on our southern facing hillside vineyard was particularly long and allowed our grapes to mature without rush.  This wine maintains a soft and opulent entry into the palate with flavors of blueberry compote, blackberry jam, boysenberry pastry, mulberry, violets, tobacco, cocoa, vanilla, cedar and leather. The firm tannins provide a tactile yet velvety texture, which lingers on the finish. Savor each glass of this wine as it will continue to reveal its complexities for hours after you open the bottle. Enjoy 2012 - 2022.

2006 Merlot 750

2006 Merlot 750
Seavey harvested the 2006 Merlot in just two days, beginning on October 12 with our steep hillside block and finishing on October 16 with the lower blocks. The fruit had low potential alcohol and medium-high acidity, which led to a very bright and structured wine, with an abundance of red fruit character. We counterbalanced the Merlot’s austerity with the addition of some rich Cabernet Sauvignon from our two best blocks. The resulting wine is concentrated, smooth and balanced.

2005 Merlot 750

2005 Merlot 750

The lush nose of ripe blackberries with hints of cedar, clove and dark chocolate gives way to an exceedingly long and rich finish. The wine's opulence is a signature of the classic 2005 vintage. To our core Merlot blocks we added Cabernet Sauvignon (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%) from the very top of our vineyard, a portion we call “Masochist Hill” because of its extreme slope.
