In the mouth, it is full-bodied and backward, but persuasively rich, layered and marvelously well-balanced. A sleeper pick in this outstanding vintage. It should evolve effortlessly for 20 – 30 years. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2028. Rating: 94+

The 1994 exhibits an opaque purple color and an exuberant yet still young and unformed nose of spice, black fruits and cedar. Full-bodied with layers of dense, ripe fruit, this rich, full-bodied moderately tannic wine should be at its best in 5 years. It will keep for 20+ years.

The 1991 is a massive yet pure Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk now but promises to be even better by the turn of the century and last for 20 more years. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I did a tasting of top 1991’s and the Seavey came out first in a very competitive lineup. A small quantity of the 1991 was still exquisite, perhaps even greater than it had been 72 hours earlier. Amazing! Rating: 97.
