This blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot from the dry-farmed hillside vineyard of Bill and the late Mary Seavey is a 35-50-year wine. Complex nose melds black raspberry, dark chocolate, licorice, roasted meat, and sexy oak notes.  Fat and sweet in the middle, with warm flavors of plum…a roasted ripeness. Finishes with horizontal, fine tannins and lovely persistence.  A very successful 2000 from Conn Valley, in which the fruit obviously ripened well.Rating: 92, Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar, June 2003

“…A powerful, strong effort for this challenging vintage, it exhibits an opaque purple color as well as a tight but promising bouquet of earth, crème de cassis, wood, forest floor, and licorice aromas. The wine displays a fantastic nose of classic black currants intermixed with cigar box and cedar scents. In the mouth, it is full-bodied and backward, but persuasively rich, layered and marvelously well-balanced. There is a deep, sweet mid-palate and explosive ripeness and richness in the long, heady finish. A sleeper pick in this outstanding vintage. It should evolve effortlessly for 20–30 years.
