Scooter & Leife are the official mascots and greeters of Seavey Vineyard.
Scooter, the silver Schnauzer, is gentile, like his master, Bill Seavey. He is calm and reserved and rarely barks, though he is always cordial to strangers and friends alike. He loves attention, at the expense of Leife, and gets rather jealous rather quickly if Leife gets more love than him.
Leife has classic Jack Russel terrier tendencies, means she has a Napoleanic complex, thinking she is bigger, smarter, stronger, faster than she really is. She is friendly and fun-loving with all people. Though, she loves to "tear after" animals, and one of her favorite passtimes at the Seavey ranch is mixing it up with the cows and the bull, along with the coyotes (and anything else moving in the bushes).
Leife is defiant and loves to stay outdoors at night, even though Scooter knows better, obviously preferring the creature comforts of the indoors. Well, with defiance, a price is always paid. She has survived (we don't know how or why) two severe coyote attacks in the last several months...the last one cost $1300 to stitch up her 17 puncture wounds from bites!
She's back to her old self. As she often shoots out blindly and wildly into the bush or the vineyards, Scooter begrudgingly follows suit just to make sure she doesn't get into too much trouble.
If you visit the Seavey ranch, rub Scooter's ears, then give Leife a pat and check out the battle scars for yourself...she wears them like a badge of honor.
