2008 Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon Release Letter
September 16, 2011
Dear Friends of Seavey Vineyard,
This is my 30th year as a winegrower and proprietor of Seavey Vineyard. I have always looked far into the future when making decisions that will impact our beloved 200 acre estate and the wines which we grow. As custodians of the land, we cherish everything it offers and ensure that the complexity derived from our diverse soil types and micro-climate is expressed in the fruit which our vineyard produces. We stand ready for the 2011 harvest, but it is the fruit which our vineyard provided in 2008 which causes me to write to you today.
We are pleased to offer the 2008 Seavey Cabernet Sauvignon made exclusively from Seavey Vineyard crop. Only 475 cases were produced, making it our most exclusive offering of Seavey Cabernet ever. This 100% Estate wine re-affirms our tradition of hand-selecting, micro-farming and individually vinifying the many small lots of grapes we harvest from our vineyard. The resulting wine is a pure expression of our terroir and traditional winemaking practices.
Robert Parker has referenced this wine as “One of the strongest of the vintage…”, highly endorsing it with 95pts. I welcome you to read his review on our website. If you are inclined to receive an allocation of this precious hand-crafted wine, I encourage you to do so soon, as demand for this wine is sure to be much greater than our very limited production.
I should like to thank our winegrowing team, including: my sons Arthur and Will; Mario Gutierrez, Vineyard Foreman; Jim Duane, Winemaker; and Philippe Melka, Consulting Winemaker.
We shall look forward to your next visit.
With many thanks for your continuing friendship and support,
William A. Seavey, Proprietor
